Household Hazardous Waste
In cooperation with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is held in Sevier County each year. This helps to prevent hazardous waste materials from being improperly disposed of which causes a hazard to both the environment and to health safety.  The date for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is TBA at the Sevierville Municipal Complex (in front of city hall at 120 Gary Wade Boulevard).

Vehicle Recycling Program
Do you have an old car that you want to get rid of, but you don't want to have to pay to have it towed away? We can help. We have a junk car program that will tow away your car at no cost to you. In fact, you can either get $25 per car (up to $100 per customer) or get a tax deduction. Please call 774-6677 for an application and help clean up Sevier County. Sponsors of this program include Sevierville Sunrise Rotary, American Truck and SUV, and Sevier County Government.

Litterbug Catchers
Be a bug catcher, litter bug that is. Do you get tired of watching people throw their trash out the window? Do you get tired of people using the earth as their ash tray? Fill out the litterbug catchers form and report them today. A letter will be mailed the litterbug with information about the laws regarding litter and the importance of keeping litter off the ground in Sevier County. Please call 774-6677 and let us know if someone is littering.

Waste in Place
Waste in Place, a program designed by Keep America Beautiful, is an interdisciplinary environmental program focusing on litter prevention and solid waste management for educators of kindergarten through sixth grade. It reinforces the concepts of litter prevention and provides an integrated approach to managing solid waste, including source reduction, recycling, composting, and transforming waste to energy. In 2002, the Sevier County School Board approved this program for implementation with all 2nd grade classes, so 48 teachers were trained.

Clean Sweep USA
Clean Sweep USA is a web-based program designed by Keep America Beautiful which is designed to help middle school students. It is an interactive program that promotes learning through games and observation. If you want to look at it, please go to Clean Sweep USA.

In Concert with the Environment
In Concert with the Environment, an educational program sponsored by Sevier County Electric System, TVA and Keep Sevier Beautiful, is a program shows students how they can help preserve the environment by making simple changes in the way they use energy. Participating students develop an energy action plan for their households by gathering information about their homes, energy use, family vehicles, and recycling habits. The gathered data is then analyzed by a computer program to generate a personal report with recommendations for using energy wisely and protecting the environment.

Great American Cleanup
Great American Cleanup is the largest organized cleanup in the United States and a key event with Keep America Beautiful. It encourages people to get out in front of their businesses and homes and clean up. If we picked up one piece of litter a day, just think of the impact that we would have. According to KAB research, people litter where they feel no sense of ownership, believe that people will clean up after them, and where trash has already accumulated. In accordance with the Great American Cleanup, several communities hold Sparkle Days. These are days that people are encouraged to get out and make the community sparkle.
